An overview of the Chemistry library space

Silent study

The Chemistry Library is a large, open, silent study space, which means we do not allow supervisions or other group work which might disturb the silence. We've suggested some alternative places for supervisions, meetings and group work below.

On this page:

Supervisions

Here are some places in the department's Lensfield Road building where you can hold supervisions:

  • The balcony over the foyer to the BMS lecture theatre.

  • Any of the seminar rooms when they are not booked (Please note: you can use the seminar rooms but you cannot pre-book them for supervisions).

  • When not in use the lecture theatres can be used for supervisions (there are quite a lot of tables in the BMS which are convenient to use).

  • The CyberCafe can be used outside service hours, which are are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 15:30.  Supervisions during service hours are NOT allowed.

  • Please note that the Library is NOT available for supervisions.

Bookable meeting rooms

The department has five meeting rooms with different seating capacities that department members can book for meetings. Please note these rooms cannot be booked for supervisions during office hours.

Postdoc centres

The three Postdoc centres offer a unique space dedicated to postdocs. Find out more about their facilities and how you can use them:
